Last year, Mallory Barnes and her husband made the difficult decision to move in order to open a studio, knowing it would mean being far away from the people they loved most. The move brought anxiety, uncertainty, and fear, especially around the friendships Mallory holds so deeply. She made a conscious choice to remain present in those relationships through conversation, creativity, and small, intentional moments. To honor the people who continued to show up for her from afar, Mallory chose to dance to their voices. The music and vocals featured in this piece are a compilation of friends from across the United States. Though distance now separates them, their connection remains strong.
Kelsey is a former ballet dancer who began pole at the CEAPAC studio in Edmonton in 2023. During her time as a ballet dancer, daily barre practice was essential, but also tedious and repetitive, and her mind would often wander elsewhere. Tonight, she invites you into her daydream of becoming a glamorous showgirl in the middle of ballet barre.
Originally trained in dance, Nicky Elizabeth discovered pole in 2019 and has been captivated ever since. Tonight, she invites you into the story of a chance encounter with a vibrant nightclub, where Latin rhythms pulse through the air, the energy is electric, and a dance-off unfolds as the pole takes her away. Get ready for a fiery performance full of passion, spice, strength, and sass.
I want to lead you into my performance by reciting a poem by Erin Hanson: Do not hold your breath for anyone, do not wish your lungs to be still, it may delay the cracks from spreading, but eventually they will. sometimes to keep yourself together, you must allow yourself to leave, even if breaking your own heart, is what it takes to let you breathe

Peace De Resistance is the in-between of poetry and stillness. Sensuality and Deliverance. Often decked in gold and jeweled tones, De Resistance reminds folks that Drag Kings are expensive royalty. Meant to walk with the dignity of resistance and revolution. To be yourself is an act of strength. To say, "look at me, I am here, and I am you." This is Peace contained in the Resistance. A picky drag king, De Resistance only appears on battle stage that ooze with pizzazz. If you see him on stage, congrats, how lucky of you.
